Plan My Vacation

Universal Orlando Planning

Make it epic.

Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, Epic Universe, and the hotels that tie the whole trip together.

Universal Planning Hub

Epic trips need smart planning.

I help compare hotels, understand Express Pass value, plan park-to-park days, and build the trip around the attractions and experiences you care about most.

Where you stay matters

Universal Hotels

Choosing a Universal hotel is about more than the room rate. I compare location, transportation, room layout, pool and dining options, Early Park Admission eligibility, and whether a higher hotel rate can be justified by valuable included perks.

  • Best for convenience: hotels with easy walking or water-taxi access can reduce transportation time.
  • Best for value: lower-priced resorts can make sense when most of the day will be spent in the parks.
  • Best for families: room configuration, food options, pool time, and transportation can matter as much as theming.
  • My role: I compare the total vacation value instead of automatically recommending the cheapest room.

Time can be more valuable than money

Express Pass

Express Pass can dramatically change the pace of a Universal vacation, but it is not automatically necessary for every trip. I look at your dates, park hours, priorities, budget, and hotel choice before recommending it.

  • When I like it: shorter trips, busy dates, thrill-focused travelers, and guests who want less time waiting.
  • Hotel strategy: select Universal hotel stays may include Universal Express Unlimited for eligible parks, which can sometimes make upgrading the hotel a better overall value than buying Express separately.
  • Important: Express benefits and participating attractions can vary, so I verify what applies to your specific dates and tickets.
  • My goal: help you pay for convenience only when the convenience is actually useful.

A park that deserves its own strategy

Epic Universe

Epic Universe adds another major park to a Universal Orlando vacation, so I help decide how many total park days you need and where Epic fits best instead of simply adding another exhausting day.

  • Pacing: build in enough time to experience the lands without rushing from attraction to attraction.
  • Ticket planning: compare ticket products based on which parks you actually want to visit and how many days you have.
  • Hotel location: your resort can affect the convenience of reaching different parts of Universal Orlando.
  • Balanced itinerary: I can mix Epic Universe with Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, pool time, and CityWalk.

Universal FAQ

Smart choices before you go.

Is Express Pass worth it?

It can be one of the most valuable upgrades on a short or busy trip, but I do not recommend it automatically.

  • Most useful for: shorter trips, peak dates, thrill-focused groups, and guests who dislike waiting.
  • Hotel math matters: sometimes a hotel with included Express benefits can be a better overall value than a cheaper hotel plus separate Express purchases.
  • Not always necessary: on lower-crowd dates or longer stays, good timing may reduce the need.
  • My approach: compare the cost of time saved, not just the ticket price.
Which Universal hotel should we pick?

I compare more than room rate. Walking access, water taxi, shuttle frequency, room size, pools, dining, included perks, and the parks you expect to visit most all matter.

  • Premier-style convenience: can be worth it when location and included benefits save both time and money.
  • Value-focused stays: make sense when you are in the parks most of the day.
  • Family trips: room configuration and transportation may matter more than the hotel theme.
How many days do we need?

For a trip that includes Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Epic Universe, and possibly Volcano Bay, I prefer enough time that you are not treating every park like a race.

I build around your must-dos first, then decide whether you need more park days, a pool/rest day, or a CityWalk evening.

Should we do Park-to-Park tickets?

Park-to-Park can add flexibility and may be important for specific experiences that connect parks. It is particularly useful for guests who want to move based on waits, dining, or evening plans rather than staying in one park all day.

How should we plan Epic Universe?

I treat Epic Universe as a major park day, not an add-on. The right plan depends on your priorities, park hours, ticket setup, and whether you want to revisit favorite lands instead of trying to do everything once.

  • Pick your top attractions before arrival.
  • Build in time to explore the lands rather than only chase rides.
  • Avoid placing another exhausting park day immediately before or after if your trip allows.
Where does Volcano Bay fit?

Volcano Bay can work as a dedicated water-park day or as a lower-pressure break between theme-park days. I factor in weather, season, your hotel, and how much pool or relaxation time your group actually enjoys.

Zach's Planning Lens

How I would think through the trip.

First-time family

Prioritize an easy hotel, enough park days to avoid rushing, and Express only where it meaningfully improves the experience.

Thrill-focused adults

Lean into Park-to-Park flexibility, later evenings, major coasters, and a hotel/location that minimizes lost travel time.

Short 2–3 night trip

Convenience becomes more valuable. I would pay closer attention to hotel perks, Express strategy, and eliminating unnecessary transfers.
